Experience

Mr. Myers has extensive experience in business litigation, construction litigation, medical malpractice, employment litigation and products liability.  He has handled cases in a variety of jurisdictions including Missouri, Kansas, Florida, Mississippi, Iowa, New Jersey, California, Nevada, Texas, Montana, South Dakota, New Mexico and Washington State.

Mr. Myers’ business litigation practice includes representation of clients in breach of contract, fraud and real estate litigation. His construction litigation practice includes representing architects and engineers in claims resulting from the design of commercial construction projects and general contractors and subcontractors in faulty construction claims. Mr. Myers’ employment litigation practice includes representing both employers and employees in non-compete litigation as well as employment discrimination matters.  His medical malpractice practice includes representation of medical providers in claims of medical malpractice and wrongful death. Mr. Myers’ product liability experience includes representing propane pipelines and wholesalers in personal injury, wrongful death and property claims resulting from propane explosions.  Additionally, Mr. Myers has represented a public utility in numerous personal injury and wrongful death claims resulting from contact with overhead electricity transmission lines. Mr. Myers joined Shaffer Lombardo Shurin (“SLS”) in January of 2008.

Professional

Mr. Myers is admitted to practice law before the State Bar of Missouri, the State Bar of Kansas, the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri and the United States District Court for the District of Kansas.  He is also admitted to practice in front of the Eighth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeal. Mr. Myers is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and The Association of Defense Trial Attorneys.

Professional Honors

Mr. Myers is included in The Kansas City Business Journal’s Best of the Bar for business litigation.  Mr. Myers holds an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
In 1999, Mr. Myers was appointed as the Municipal Judge for the City of Roeland Park, Kansas.  Mr. Myers is the youngest known judicial appointee in Kansas history.

Education

Mr. Myers received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Missouri in 1994 and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1997.

Personal

Mr. Myers and his wife Shannon have two daughters. Mr. Myers enjoys competing in triathlons and traveling.
